Howard Green

Founder & CEO

Howard Green is a seasoned executive with a background in a number of industries, including the cannabis industry.

Howard’s skills were honed at Fortune 500 and NASDAQ companies in executive roles with financial oversight ranging from $150 million to $5 billion. While working with leaders at some of the most recognized global brands (e.g. Charles Schwab, Honeywell, Nestle, Genentech, Autodesk and United Airlines), Howard learned an invaluable lesson: regardless of industry, most companies face similar challenges and opportunities.

In 2013, after successful stints in the abovementioned companies, Howard joined BMC, a building materials and construction solutions company with $3 billion in annual sales. This experience later gave him the knowledge he needed to consult on the construction of facilities for cannabis companies.

In March 2017, Howard joined a medical cannabis business in Oakland, California, as its Chief Operating Officer. His primary role was leading development projects to vertically integrate the business. In addition, Howard oversaw corporate strategy, business development, operations, finance, marketing, and human resources. He was charged with preparing the firm for the legalization of adult-use cannabis in California and ensuring compliance and operational efficiency post-legalization.

During his time with this cannabis firm, Howard realized there was a demand in the cannabis industry for professionals that have built and led multinational firms. Cannabis firms face unique problems, including difficulties with legislation, social stigma, and the uncertainty of an emerging market. As a result, cannabis businesses often need the support of an experienced and knowledgeable consultant.

Realizing this, Howard left the cannabis company in June 2018 and launched Canna-Consulting, a cannabis consultancy focused on helping cannabis operators successfully compete in the cannabis space against a backdrop of a highly regulated industry and an unprecedented illicit market.

Howard’s knowledge of the cannabis space, combined with his experience in executive positions at well-recognized and successful companies, means he is uniquely positioned to help you take your cannabis business to the next level.

Howard holds a Bachelor of Science degree from California State University, Sacramento, and lives in Oakland with his wife and three children.
